God’s Address

I came across this cartoon last evening and found it intellectually stimulating. This cartoon is open to different interpretations from both atheists and theists.
Cartoonist Dan Pirraro himself stated “However you take this cartoon, I think it’s an interesting idea. If God is only in the minds of humans, how is he looking at the sign? If He actually exists and someone did this to Him as a joke, why does it make Him mad?”
While religious moralists may find any cartoon with God off-putting, I think this cartoon can be enjoyed by everyone.

In a way it can be true, I believe in God, but I think that people have so many misconceptions about God, that they virtually create an entirely different God in their heads. That would explain the origin of different religions.

“but I think that people have so many misconceptions about God, that they virtually create an entirely different God in their heads” The “misconceptions” come from the fact that God is ill-defined, inconsistent and contradictory in most* religious texts. If god did actually exist (which is a preposterous idea) why did he make everything about his existence so ambiguous? Why does the bible contradict itself in so many places? Why are parts of it outright untrue? Why do so many religions, even those worshipping the same god, have so many differences of opinion? It strikes me that if god really did care, he’s just lay down some rules, simply and unambiguously, so that we can all agree and follow them properly, rather than leaving us with a few badly written and contradictory religious texts to misinterpret.
