Maybe part of it is the global influence of America and the fact that their politicians are seen globally on TV like superstars. Also there is a definite air of showmanship and the issues of first woman / first African American involved. I think it will be interesting to see how things pan out and it will be a historic occasion if Obama gets to be president and I hope it helps African Americans in general.
